“Dalí and Fashion” offers a fresh journey into Salvador Dalí’s creative universe through the language of fashion. Over 200 works and documents — including paintings, drawings, photographs, garments, films, jewellery and objects — explore the artist’s relationship with identity, image and contemporary culture, highlighting his ability to anticipate developments in fashion and communication.
Taking place at Palazzo Reale from 24 September 2026 to 31 January 2027, “Dalí and Fashion” is a major exhibition dedicated for the first time to Salvador Dalí’s influence on the world of fashion and the decisive role fashion played in shaping his creative universe. This international project opens during Milan Fashion Week 2026 and brings together masterpieces, garments and materials from leading museums and international collections.
The exhibition has been developed in collaboration with the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, an institution established by the artist himself and a leading authority on the study and promotion of his work. Scholarly direction is provided by Montse Aguer, Director of the Dalí Museums. The exhibition is curated by Laura Bartolomé, with contributions from senior curators Lucia Moni and Bea Crespo and the participation of Judith Clark, fashion historian and professor at University of the Arts London.
Read moreThe exhibition brings together over 200 works and documents, largely drawn from the world’s three largest collections of Dalí’s work: the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí in Figueres, The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. These are complemented by materials from the historical archives of the fashion houses Schiaparelli, Chanel, Dior and Rabanne.
The exhibition offers a fresh perspective on the relationship between Surrealism and material culture, exploring themes that remain relevant today: the construction of identity, the transformation of image into spectacle, the dialogue between art and consumption, and the power of creativity to reinvent reality. From window displays and advertising campaigns to the pages and covers of Vogue, a portrait emerges of a multifaceted artist capable of transcending disciplines and boundaries and continually redefining the relationship between art and life.
